9.5 month old twins and napping

I'm having a tough week with my 9.5mo DTs.

They used to have 2 good naps, first at 9.30 for 1/1.5 hours and second at 2ish for 1/1.5 hours.

This week everything has gone tits up! They wouldn't take the morning nap so I tried to make it a bit later. That didn't work.

Yesterday I went for broke and kept them up until after their dinner. They went to sleep about 12.30 but were both wide awake by 1.40!

I had to put them to bed at 5.30 which was ridiculous because they were wide awake and ready to party at 4 am Shock

Today they've had a short sleep from 11.10-12 and despite most certainly being tired they're up in their cots laughing and singing for the past hour.

I'm feeling very anxious. I'm due to go back to work in a few weeks and I'm worried that their minder (a lovely person who will also mind their 27 mo brother) will find them too much to handle if they don't have a good nap.

Any thoughts or ideas? I promised myself I wouldn't stress over naps but this is really getting to me.

I'm afraid to say it but think two day time naps has gone! By 10m would think a good hour post lunch would be great if you are home.

If you are out in car or pushchair they may drop off for quick morning dose but if there's three of them and lots going on will make lure of nap even more remote.

That's what I'm afraid of too akire Confused

But I seem to see loads of people whose babies are still having 2 naps at this age and I feel like I'm failing somewhere!

Plus I can't have them awake by 1.30 for the rest of the day - it's torture for everyone!!!!

I would not worry about what childminder thinks if she's taken on 3 under 3 then hardly going to think it's going be easy! You may find when they are walking and running around more th

Oops they burn more energy or could be teething and that's keeping them awake at moment. Hope it works out for you.

Thanks a mill - I think I just find it hard when I don't have any downtime but I suppose it's her job! Plus she gets to hand them back to me at 3pm Smile

Personally I would be surprised if they are attempting to drop to 2 naps at this age. My DD is still on a 2 nap day at 14 1/2 months and couldn't handle one nap yet.

I would imagine it is a phase, give it a few more days before you start trying to change times. I do remember needing to push back naptimes around 10 months so she now has a nap at 10.30 and 3.00 instead of 9.30 and 2.00. Are they starting to pull up, walk etc yet? That may be affecting sleep in the short term.

9 month sleep regression? ??

TheEagle · 31/01/2016 19:10

They're crawling and about to pull themselves to standing so there's a lot going on.

DS1 dropped to one nap at 10 months but it was a seamless transition - he just started sleeping 2-2.5 hours after lunch.

I feel like these boys need more rest but just won't take it. Having a partner in crime laughing with you in the opposite cot probably doesn't help.

Think I'll keep experimenting with times and see how we go.
