I don't understand my baby

I'm so tired and upset, I don't understand why she sometimes will go in the cot and straight off to sleep on her own and other times it takes hours. I know it's probably timing but she's 12 weeks now surely I should get it by now?! I'm so impatient when I'm tired and get so frustrated when nothing seems to work.

I feel like she's always tired and I'm a shit mum for letting her be so red eyed and grumpy all the time.

Fantastic!

You're absolutely right that sometimes missing the window and getting overtired just happens. With me this would either accidentally because I don't notice or deliberately because I had something else to do at the time baby should have slept.

It's not like being occasionally over tired is inherently A Bad Thing (unless it is most of the time), it's just that when you know you are in Over-Tired Territory then all rules go out the window and instead of stressing about habits and routines, for that moment just focus on sleep anywhere, anyhow.
