No more daytime naps :(

fear that DD isnt going to have a day time nap anymore or very rarely. She has refused to go to sleep. Despite dropping off in the car on the way home for lunch.

As DSonly sleeps on his tummy it makes it difficult to go anywhere in the afternoons to ensure he gets some sleep. He will sleep all day if he could.

No point in this really as there are no soloutions I guess.

How old is dd? my ds is 22mths and rarely has a nap in the day now.

Beabea · 20/12/2006 15:33

She is 27months. I just cant see A) how I can keep her entertained throught he afternoon at home and B) get the chores done that I usually do when they both sleep.

I know what you mean. I can't do what I need to do when my 2 are awake. I keep meaning to put laundry away but can never seem to get both of my ds's to sleep at the same time. my youngset ds is 4 months and seems to be awake for longer periods in the day

My two both gave up daytime naps at around 18/19 months - very annoying! On the plus side it made planning certain trips easier as you don't have to try and fit them in around the nap and a grumpy toddler having to be moved or woken up.

I could take DD out somewhere but that still leaves DS who realy needs and loves his sleep.

How ols is your ds? Could you not squeeze him into a pram?

ProfYaffle · 20/12/2006 16:50

My dd gave up her daytime nap around the same age, it was such a shock to the system. I'm getting to grips with it now, my coping strategies have been to plan in an extra home based activity during the afternoon when she would normally have slept (baking, craft, that sort of thing) and I've learned how to do housework with dd around.

I'm lucky in that she goes to nursery 2 mornings so I can catch up on stuff it's difficult to do with her around.

He is a big 13week old. I also dont have a pram. I just have a tandem which we haven't used much and DDs single buggy. She always wants to get in it if DS is put in it. He doesnt like it much anyway. By the time I found a pram and sold the tandem he would def be too big. I have considered that today mind you.

My dd is trying to cut out her afternoon sleep which she still needs.

She wont go up if i asked her to have 5mins but if i take her to have quite time and read her books (look at pictures) in bed she will have at least a hour.
