My 10 week old baby wakes at 3am every night with very painful wind and will not go back to sleep at all, it only happens in the early hours and he is in a lot of pain. He has had it since he was 3 weeks old and it is not getting any better. We burp him at every feed and try gripe water at night. I breast feed him every 3 hours. Has anyone else had something similar or know anything that may help? I am so tired!

no tips but you may get more responses if you post your message in 'breast and bottlefeeding'

I also have a 10 week old. Would suggest one of those warm things full of cherry stones you heat in the microwave, laying it across his tummy. I would also swaddle him..

Make sure you're getting enough water to drink, and also eat lots of protein in the afternoon and evening, like milk and cheese. this helped me a bit, my LO had bad wind but in the evening rather than the night..

best of luck!

have you tried infacol?..this always worked when dd was a baby, gripewater didnt.hth

My DS had this - I stopped drinking orange juice and eating apples which helped a bit (not sure why - maybe they're too acidic). I also used infacol just before his bedtime feed which seemed to help.

Also try cycling his legs and very gently rubbing his tummy in a clockwise direction - can help with digestion.

My DS gradually just stopped doing it so hopefully will be something your little one will gradually grow out of too.

What is he sleeping in atm?
My ds has reflux so we have always tilted his carrycot and cot to help him as laying on his back made things worse.
A yellow pages should do the trick.

Thanks for that, he does prefer being on his front and hates being on his back so will try the yellow pages trick:-) I have stopped eating dairy and citrus fruit a while back but it didn't improve, hopefully he will grow out of it soon!

Hi - we had problems with wind when DS was younger. Infacol before every feed religiously - it has a cumulatve effect. And gripe water at night. Also we tried to ensure he had some time awake/upright/legs being bicycled for about half an hour before going down to sleep at night in order to try and get all the burps out. HTH
