I'm going back to work next week and dd is 71/2 months now. She is breastfed but this last week I have got her to go to sleep without the breast and she manages this fairly well. However she needs o 2 hour nap in the morning and another in the afternoon but after 3/4 of an hour she's up and cant get her self back to sleep. Before I just fed her back but dh cant do that obviously.

Dh wouldnt do cc so any other ideas? She resettles herself at night fine just the day is the problem.

tia

She can get to sleep fine on her own and doesnt sleep on the bottle but wakes up and is then miserable. Dh is confident they'll manage but i'm not so sure........

Oh, that annoying 45 minute sleep with waking too soon!! I remember it well. Did she always do this before and you feed her back to sleep? It might be possible that she's cutting back her nap times regardless of b/f? 2 hours in the morning and afternoon is quite a lot unless she has a very short night's sleep too. Maybe you could cut the morning down a bit and then she might sleep more in the afternoon which will gradually become the most important sleep anyway.

Are you going back to work full or part time? I went back part time when dd was 7 months. She stayed with dp. I remember being very anxious but as someone else has said, they just find their own way together and it's fine.

thanks for replies. Dh is confident they'll find there own way. I am v pleased she can go to sleep now without bottle or boob. I'm going back full time till sept so will let dh deal with it.

I never found dd pined for me at that age. That comes later. Dd was fine about me going to work until she was about 14 months old and then suddenly she started protesting when I was trying to leave. It was horrible! She'd stand by the door yelling 'mamma! No work, no!!'
