Are there any formula fed babies terrible sleepers?

Ds2 is 6 months. He's formula fed. On a bad night he can wakes several times.

I'm on all the sleep threads but most of the babies are breastfed so are feeding regularly through the night. Ds only has one bottle at night and definitely doesn't want or need more than that.

He has a dummy too, but that doesn't really work at night.

I've tried a dream feed at 10.30pm, he still keeps waking up.

He's in a great bedtime routine and goes to sleep just fine between 7.30-8.00pm.

Usually anytime after midnight the waking up will start, it could be every 30 minutes to an hour. I usually get up, give him his dummy, he will doze off but then wake again soon afterwards.

I then usually feed him after 2ish but he's not even that hungry. He might take an hour to go back to sleep before it all starts again.

Sometimes he will not go back to sleep at all so I just bring him into bed. Sometimes this works and he can even sleep all the way through.

I've got his cot pulled right against the bed so I can just reach to him. It might ha e helped a bit but not much.

If he's not hungry why is he just waking constantly?

Yes I agree, he goes to bed fine and is even napping in his cot now in the day.

Morning PJ hope you had a good night ? It's a nightmare trying to get everything "perfect" for them so they stay asleep isn't it ?! I think notheop may be right, he's just got into a little habit of waking up, and hopefully he will get out of it before too long - we had this for a bit at precisely 5.25 (Xmas Confused)every morning, waking to have his dummy even though he'd been asleep quite happily without it all night...and it was hard not to get up and get it for him, but eventually we both stopped doing it! And Grobags are so snuggly as you say, i want one myself Xmas Smile

Do you know what. He slept right through the night, the whole night. It's only the second time he's done it, the other time was after his injections. He slept from about 8pm to 6.50 this morning. I couldn't believe it.

Unfortunately I did not sleep, sorry for the tmi but it's my time of the month and I often randomly get bad stomach cramps and diarrhoea, last night was one of those times and I was awake for over an hour with horrible strong stomach cramps and going to the toilet.

I honestly could have cried.

I haven't fed him in the night for 3 nights now although he did sleep in our bed for two of them. This has resulted in him drinking all his milk during the day. I'm expecting to out he will be back to normal.

Oh that's not fair, the one night you could have rested...poor you, I'm not surprised you felt like crying, definitely a day for getting your head down whilst he's having a nap if at all possible. You never know he might do it again tonight, habit seems to be a BIG thing in their little lives so fingers crossed this is the start of a new routine for him, and you. Xx
