sleeping in baby's room

Since moving ds into his own room he's had some beautifully timed illness and teething so I've found myself still sleeping with him most nights for at best a couple of hours and at worst the full night. I've just swapped my nice comfy bed for the floor in his room

Hopefully this won't go on forever but I expect occasional recurrences so want to get a decent comfy solution in place thats easy to sort at 2am without having a massive spare duvet stored in the nursery for me to sausage myself into (current solution)

What do you do?

Get a single bed? She will eventually need one. It can be a spare bed until then

Or bring the cot back into your room

Double mattress on floor. Get rid of cot. Both sleep on mattress. They can sleep on for years

I used a travel cot in our room for toddler dd the last time she was really poorly.

Oh and wouldn't it be easier to just bring him into your bed with you when he wakes? Rather than camping on the floor

I just use a double mattress on the floor too, when he finally sleeps through the night I'll spend less time there. No way was I getting up and going to another room numerous times a night. I did have him in my bed originally but couldn't leave him there in the evenings as he'd fall off.

Some kind if pack Up futon that you can use when he is older and visiting relatives? Or you can continue to use if he is ill

We had the futon in DD's room when she first moved. I just left it there all day as all her toys etc were downstairs, there was no need for her room to be tidy.

I had a single bed in his nursery, it was a fold up bed and I would go to bed with DH and moved there when DS would wake up. DH is a primary school teacher, and he needs his sleep I didn't mind doing the night shift so it worked for us, for about a year. I always put him back in his cot as I can't co sleep, if DS was in bed with me I just didn't sleep at all. It worked for us. Whatever works. Get something a futon, fold up bed, mattress on the floor. You need to be comfortable or you will end up with a backache and that wont help anyone.

We had a single bed in their room - all made up and ready for whoever's turn it was on night duty. As has been said, you'll need one in the end for when they come out the cot.

DH is a rubbish sleeper so bringing him into our bed isn't practical as he's got to work. Whereas I can mooch about after 4 hrs sleep in my pj's if necessary.
