Bedtime issues

My husband and I both work evenings leaving the house at about 4.45pm and don't get back until gone 10pm.

Would it be very disruptive to a baby's sleep pattern to put baby to sleep at a grandparents house and then pick them up at about 9.30pm and take them back to our house? Would this wake baby up? I've read having a good routine is very important and don't want to ruin this. Does anyone have a similar situation or solution?

How old is the child and how far home? I think it would be fine and I'd do it.

Depends on the age of the baby?

Would this be a long term / every night thing?

Couldn't your inlaws do bedtime at home?

Baby doesn't exist yet! Blush Hubby and I are still in the planning stages and it just occurred to me that bedtime could be a big issue and want to make sure we can manage properly before baby arrives.

It would be a long term thing, and most nights, probably 4-5 nights per week.

We could have in laws do bedtime at home, just not sure it's fair to ask them to stay at ours until 10pm every night? Obviously they could do one or two nights each so this may be an option.

I would say it's not fair to ask them to do childcare 4/5 evenings regardless of where it is. They won't be able to go out for dinner/pop to the cinema or do anything with their evenings because they have a child 4.30-9.30

If still in the planning stages I would start thinking about getting work so you and your husband could work opposite shifts. In your shoes that's what I would do.
