9 month old sudden nap change

My little one has always been a great daytime sleeper, 2.5 hour nap in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon. All of a sudden he has dropped his morning nap to 30 min and is only sleeping for 1 hour in the afternoon.
I wouldn't mind this if it was enough sleep but he is shattered and often grumpy for most of the day! He is crawling but has started standing and won't be long until he is walking I don't think. Do you think it's just because he is learning lots of new things at the moment? Has anyone experienced this?

I'm thinking that maybe he is moving his larger nap to over lunch, but I'm hoping this will gradually be a big nap! When did you little ones drop to just one sleep? He seems abit little bit young for this!
Thank you in advance ??

Transition phases were always more difficult. He's adjusting to less sleep and adjusting to new skills and you're adjusting to his different patterns.
It will eventually settle.

DS never needed much sleep in the day.
But you can still make quiet time to relax a bit. See if he needs more calories to keep up with all the activity. The grumpiness could be sugar lows too.

I'm not convinced when mine have done this that it is because of a nap transition. I think it's things going on with their development and a touch of separation anxiety which kicks in around this age.

9 months is still very young for one nap so I rode it out and it settled down again. The 2 to 1 nap transition usually happens around 12 to 15 months.

Transition means in terms of development as well.
And different children do need different sleep times and naps.
My DS has always slept little during the day, whereas some of his cousins needed long naps till they were quite old and one has literally fell asleep at a restaurant table even before lunch once.
You just need to follow your child's lead and adjust to new routines.

He definitely needs the sleep, he's so grumpy without it! I will ride it out, having said that he has been asleep 1hr and 50 minutes so far today so hopefully he is getting back into his napping!

I'm pleased anyway, the house is looking prestine for the first time in weeks ??
