DD is nearly 6 weeks old and goes down well at the beginning of the night (currently around 10pm) then wakes for feeds fairly consistently at 1am, 3/4am and 6/7am. She sleeps fine until after the 3am feed when she becomes really grumbly & groany. She seems asleep but really writhes around & only stops when I put her on me so she's more upright. I thought for a while she have reflux & tried gaviscon infant but this seemed to make the situation worse as she became constipated. If it was a sporadic occurrence I wouldn't mind but it's the fact that it's the same every day - is it normal or could it be reflux/wind/something else?

Can you put a book under the head end of her cot/Moses basket so she is slightly more upright? Is she needing to be winded after that feed?

She might just want Mummy. Would you consider, can you safely, co sleep those last few hours?

Mine did this for the first 8-10 weeks then grew out of it. Lots of people in my postnatal support group said the same.

We've tilted her cot & I hold her upright for 20 mins after feeding. We wind her after every feed as she's a guzzler!
I've relented & she does sleep on me at the moment from that point onwards but I just don't sleep particularly well.
I did wonder if it was something she'd grow out of. Thanks for the advice.

Mine did this. I think it's more wanting to be close to mum than wind tbh. I used to let her sleep tucked under my arm and when she was deeply asleep moved her to her cosleeper cot.

Sorry I replied during a night feed one handed so it sounded a bit abrupt!
I remember it being so frustrating, I could never sleep after 3am ish due to her grunting. I think the general consensus was that they grow out of it when the digestive system starts to mature.
I relented too and she slept on either DH or me for that last stretch.

My DS now 15 weeks was similar at the age but has settled down now. We gave him a dose of Infacol and bedtime and were very vigilant with night time winding, which seemed to help.

Grotbag you didn't sound abrupt at all!
