Getting back on track after teething etc

My DS is seven and a half months and has just been through a rough patch of teething (sleep all over the shop) and now I think digestive disturbance after solids starting being digested properly for the first time (really nice nappies, lots of straining etc).

He used to go from 7pm to 11pm, have a bf, then about 4am, then have a bf, then go through until 7am, but since the teeth/tummy troubles he's waking at around 2am, and then 5am, and then we get up at 7am.....

Any ideas on how I get him back on track? And any tips on getting him to drop the night feed altogether?

All ideas gratefully received!

I do feel for you. Ds is the same age and we went from him sleeping from 7pm to 5am at 4 months to waking at least once a night for a feed at 6 months until this week. I found originally that I was able to lose the night feed by making him wait an extra 15 mins until he woke 15 mins later and then adding another 15 iykwim. So when he wakes at 2am don't feed until 2.15, keep this up until he wakes at 2.15. This worked really well when he woke at a definite time every night and we went from a 3am feed to him regularly waking at 5am. Haven't managed it lately tho as he wakes at such random times

it's so demoralising sometimes, DS had a brief flirtation with sleeping through the night at 8 weeks and has never done it since! Having said that, last night was better, 3.15am and 6.30am, which is almost civilised......

I thought I would put toys in his cot in the hope that he might play and let us go back to sleep until 7am, so at 6.30 I helped him sit up and gave him his toys....next thing I know there's a wail from the cot, and he's pulled himself up on the rail to try and get to us and got stuck somehow, and needs rescuing. Still, he was 15 minutes later on both counts last night, so maybe tonight we'll try and do 3.30am and 6.45am.....here's hoping!

Hope your LO settles down again soon!

Little bugger woke up at 11pm and was awake crying on and off until 2am last night. Grr. Dh decided at 1am that we should try controlled crying - cue very distressed baby doing his nut by 1.20am and us giving up and cuddling him until he finally dropped off totally knackered doing those awful huge heaving sobs. Not a good night. Hope yours was better.

sorry, wandered off to some sleep deprived land and haven't logged on for some time! Things are better and worse - I've stopped feeding him to sleep, which means he's taking a good morning feed now, but last night he was awake at 2.30am, so I gave him a bottle of water which he played with until 3.10, when he wailed and I gave in and fed him. Then he woke at 5am BAWLING at the top of his lungs, was inconsolable, I can't figure out what's hurting but it must hurt a lot! I think it's still teeth, but who knows?

how's your LO doing?
