Co sleeping to cot - advice please!

Hi all.
My bundle of joy is now 13 weeks and has been sleeping in our bed since about 6 weeks old. (He hated his Moses basket!) I would really like to start putting him in his own cot so we can get our bed back! He will go to down for a daytime nap on his own in his cot with his mobile on and a dummy but wakes after about half an hour. He sleeps much better being held or in our bed. I'm worried that when I try to put him in at night he will wake every half an hour or refuse to sleep in there at all. Any advice or success stories would be greatly appreciated.

IME I found it was easier to get my dcs to sleep in their cot at night than daytime. That's because the drive to sleep at night is a lot stronger due to baby's circadian rhythm. So unlikely that he will wake up every 30 mins as night sleep is different from day sleep. I was co sleeping with mine (wore them in sling for day naps) but started to transition them to cot around 3 months. For night sleep I placed them into cot after first night feed. Then gradually started putting them into cot at bedtime from the start. Tbh sounds your ds has proved he can already sleep in his cot so I'd bet he will be fine for night sleeps. You won't know until you try!

I also only used the cot for nighttime sleep until about 5 months old (when daytime naps naturally got longer).

Daytime we used a bouncy chair for naps

Night time we took one side off out cot and butted it up to our bed, making it a bedside cot.

Thanks. Think I'll bite the bullet and give it a go this weekend!
