I think its us waking him up

My 6 month DS wakes up about 5-6 times a night. We give him milk but he only takes a bit (except at about 11pm when he takes 5oz).

He wakes up when we come to bed and it takes a while to settle. I'm noticing he wakes up when we turn in bed.

Does this mean we should be thinking about putting him in his own room? He's in a bedside cot he's almost outgrown, in a sleepyhead. It would be a pain going to the other room and we love being together but I think we're the reason behind his shit sleep and I'm back to work in a month.

our DD was in her own room at 4 months but that's because she was already sleeping right through for 10 hours. if you think your disturbing him try and move him for a week and see what happens - if it doesn't work bring him back.

I had this with my DC2 - he is now nearly 9 months and in his own room. My DC1 stayed in our room until 15 months with no problem, but DC2 just seems to be such a light sleeper. I had the same as you - he woke when I crept in to bed and seemed to wake when we turned in the bed. I didn't want to believe it at first as for me ( and this is just me and my kids!) it always felt right having my DC in with me. I'm still quite sad about him sleeping on his own and feel a bit funny about it but he really does seem to sleep a lot better. I was back in his room for a couple of nights last week and he definitely seemed to be disturbed by me Sad

I would think the milk every time is creating a habit to wake up tbh. I would just offer him a bottle at 11pm before you sleep, then settle in the night without milk

DD went in own room around 5.5 months and started sleeping better immediately - far fewer night wakings. And yes, I think it's because we were waking her up when we went to bed and then disturbing her in the night (DH can be a noisy sleeper).

When she woke for feeds, I'd go and get her, bring her into my bed for the feed, and then pop her back in her own bed once finished. Wasn't actually that much more hassle than when she was in our room.
