My ds who was not too bad with naps etc(there were occasional blips),has now completely screwed up his routine. when he was younger, would nap for 2 hours straight in the afternoon, sleep at 8.30 pm, wake up at 11.00, feed ,go straight back to sleep and wake up twice at night.suddenly, he doesnt nap for more than a hour at a time, woke up three times the last two nights,is cranky(used to be so content)and does not go to bed until 10.pm.what the hell is going wrong?has anyone else experienced this at 15 wks ?

Hiya,

our ds is only 11 weeks old but hast started the same the day before yesterday.
But if we watch him he can do much more things today and is trying loads more things than he could do/ tried on Thursday.
According to kellymom they have a growth purt at around four months which fits your ds, which also means that this is just a phase and he should hopefully be back to normal soon.

Hi,
At around 4 & 5 months things do go a bit weird. Could be a whole number of things....getting ready to be weaned, teeth on the way, growth spurt.... The trouble is its not always clear whats going on and therefore what to do about it.
Regardless of current guidelines, your baby might be ready to be weaned, particularly if he's big. Weather you do or not is obviously up to you, if he shows any of the other signs then speak to your Health Visitor first.
Teething can also start distrupting things but a tooth might not actually appear for weeks so you're never really sure (but you will know in future if thats any consilation).
Growth spurts is another but unfortunately books/websites only warn you in the first few weeks after that you're supposed to know
Developemental changes ie. being more active, starting to sit up...basically not being a newborn anymore, can also mean their old routines change and may take a little while for them to settle down and find a new one.
Basically, this is all very normal. Things might be a bit of a struggle for a week or so (maybe even a few weeks) but its just a phase so if you can , try to take it in your stride but do talk to HV - thats what they are there for.

That's what they do.
They are humans,not robots.

moondog..do you want to add a heavy sigh to that !

routines..you get sorted for a week or 2 ,maybe 3, then the baby has a growth spurt , or a cold or cuts a tooth and you have to start again! let the baby guide you and learn to listen to their cues..then you can respond to their individual needs

they don;t read the books or know what they are 'supposed' to be doing ! they all find their own way..roll with the punches as it were !
