She's been up all night with teething pains and is full of a cold.
Had no sleep whatsoever today and can't get any calpol into her as I always end up covered in it instead.

I'm so tired, and have so much to do but she just won't stop crying and refuses to go to sleep.

HELPPPPPPPP!!!

Oh poor you, I take it lots of mummy cuddles arent doing the trick either?

compo · 23/11/2006 15:34

How old is she? I would write today off for doing stuff and cuddle her instead. Who knows she might fall asleep and you might be able to put her down

nailpolish · 23/11/2006 15:34

cant you just forget everything that you have to do, lie on the couch with baby on top of you and cuddle in watching telly

bring down the duvet off the bed

have a cup of tea, the remote beside you

you are both needing some sleep

nailpolish · 23/11/2006 15:35

i f she does fall asleep you could slide her off you and leave her on the couch

or dont

have a rest too yourself

mumatuks · 23/11/2006 15:36

You sound stressed too, which makes everything hundred times worse.

I'm putting myself up for execution here, but can you go and get into your bed with her, or sit on the settee with a cover and cuddle her, talk softly 'til she drops off? If she's feeling poorly she might just need an extra hug. Plus you could do with 5 minutes too.

JunkInMyTrunk · 23/11/2006 15:37

Thats my problem, she won't let me cuddle her at all,
she's nearly one and won't let you rock her to sleep or nod off on your lap under any circumsstances.

On the up side I've just got some calpol into her

Oh thats good. I agree, I would certainly forget doing any housy stuff and have something easy for tea.

JunkInMyTrunk · 23/11/2006 15:41

shes not crying anymore, just moaning in her cot....shall I leave her in the hope that she'll drop off by herself?

OP posts:
madmarchhare · 23/11/2006 15:43

I would certainly give it a go. Go do some colouring .

nailpolish · 23/11/2006 15:43

its hard to say wihtout being there

i would leave her if you think shes not unhappy

WildatHeartneeNappiesGalore · 23/11/2006 15:50

do you have a syringe from the chemist (you just have to ask) for giving calpol?

JunkInMyTrunk · 23/11/2006 15:55

yes thanks thats what I've just used to give her calpol.
Normally she still spits it out at me tho

OP posts:
needahand · 23/11/2006 16:47

re calpol, buy a "medication dispenser" from you chemist, it looks like a syringe but goes in the mouth and it is far less messy than using a spoon. Worth a try

nailpolish · 23/11/2006 16:48

how are thing s now?

needahand · 23/11/2006 16:49

Sorry obviously hadn't seen wild at heart's post!

JunkInMyTrunk · 23/11/2006 16:51

still not asleep! So I've given up really, can't cope with all the screaming.
Might try and give her a yoghurt for her tea, as she's not eating much.
Oh I wish dh were here!

You can order special dummies for giving medicine over the internet but, v unhelpfully, I can't remember where we got ours from. Or you can put the calpol really slowly into her cheek and they don't seem to be able to get it out before it trickles down... hope this helps and all becomes calm(er) soon x

WildatHeartneeNappiesGalore · 23/11/2006 17:46

one of mine (cant rmember which! think it was ds2, stubborn little sod, the one we had all the sleep 'issues' with too) used to refuse calpol. we tried putting it in bottles w milk for him, but he sussed us out. tried 'force feeding it quickly which was messy and v hit and miss. one time, we got it down him (he had a raging temp and we had to get him to take it) and the stubborn so-and0so threw it up! all over me, along with his milky. but i digress.

how are things now?

WildatHeartneeNappiesGalore · 23/11/2006 17:48

where are you? if youre nearby i could pop in and give you a break sometime during the day?

Scootergirl · 23/11/2006 18:29

Can't you get Calpol suppositories... oh, the thought! Let her trying spitting that out

madmarchhare · 23/11/2006 21:42

Hows things? After saying that, you shouldnt be here, get to bed .
