I currently bring my 15 week old into bed with me for his 5am feed, however I cant sleep properly as I cant seem to find a comfortable position. Im not sure where I should be putting my arms or legs etc( i know this all sounds daft)

Does anyone know where I can view pictures of how to co sleep.

At the moment I sleep with DS on his back with my left arm above his head on my left side, do I put my right arm over him or where? how far away from me should he be?
How do I stay warm? because i move the quilt down off me.

i cant seem to find anything on the web apart from how to place baby to sleep.

Hiya, I sleep with my arm under the pillow, and my knees up slightly, or on my back with arm outstretched under the pillow. I had a good leaflet in my bounty pack - did you get a bounty pack? It was a Unicef leaflet...

I sleep like the big picture, or the little one at the bottom...

Bottom right picture for me! I try and keep my arms and legs to myself if you see what I mean.

When I was worried about covers and my newborn I used to put the duvet up to my waist, then use one of those blankets with lots of holes in to cover my top half over. Sorry, can't remember what they are called.

When she was smaller I used to sleep with my hand on her nappy - it helped me sort of balance better on my side and stopped her from rolling anywhere.

those pics are lovely

mine was usually in the crook of my arm FWIW

keeping warm: wear good thick pj's, or the top part at least, helps compensate if youre not quite as snuggled under the duvet as normal (and darent risk moving the covers/baby/your arm for fear of disturbing sleeping baby and having to settle him again!)

and i put a bedside guard thingy on my side, so he can be laid out and left on that side IFSWIM, without fear of him falling out (you know, when theyre really asleep and you can move them)

AitchTwoOh · 20/11/2006 01:25

there was an article in the nct mag a while back that talked of making a C shape around the baby, so the adult lies on their side with their knees up around the baby's feet.

AitchTwoOh · 20/11/2006 01:54

and just to be a fusspot, i need to say that you mustn't sleep on the couch with the baby like the woman is doing in one of the photos. hugely increases the risk of cot death, but i'm sure you knew that already.

Quootiepie · 20/11/2006 01:56

I was gonna say that Aitch Bad advertising on my part

AitchTwoOh · 20/11/2006 01:59

(of course i did it. i don't see how you can sit on a sofa in the early days and not fall asleep immediately...)

ahem, yes quootie. very bad advertising, tsk, tsk.

Thanks everyone just what I needed. No wonder I couldnt get any sleep I dont look half as comfy as them, Im freezing to death for a start as I was too frightened DS would smother and I dont have any pillows above his head which meant that I couldnt have a pillow oh and I didnt have him as close to me like the big picture just in case I sufforcated him with my boobs or arm or something.

Those photos are so funny! I've considered using a sleeping bag because it can get really chilly(anyone actually tried this?) and I put a big pillow between my knees which helps support lower back. Oh, and a pillow behind my back too to keep from rolling on back during night.

thoise piccys are adorable

when dd was smaller she would be swaddled and laid on top of duvet on dh's side, (he was on sofa). Now shes in a gro bag , still lays on top of duvet , but I tend to fall asleep feeding on my side , so we are in the c position I suppose.Need to think about a gaurd really as she moves all over now!
