my ds is 81/2 moths and has just learned to stand up, naptimes are a nightmare with him standing up , im not sure ho to tackle it yesterday when he was making moves to stand up i kept ushering placing back in the sleeping position, he got realy upset, but was asleep in half an hour. Afterwards I thought this may be a bit cruel so I decided today to let him stand then lay him down. Why oh Why- my back is now killing me and I must have laid him down over 50 times -it took an hour and a half ANd screaming before sleep time. Has anyone else tackled this? I dont want to just abandon naps as I really need the break and ds realy needs the sleep. But I want to avoid stressing him outany ideas?

I would suggest keep doing what you are doing - I rekon in a couple of days your DS will get bored of you constantly laying him back down and just stay there.

Do you lay him down, leave the room, then, if he is still crying, go back in after a few kinutes, lay him back down etc?

We went through this with DD, getting out of her bed all the time. Now when we put her there she (usually) just stays there.

My son does the same thing. I tend to hold him down and wait for him to go to sleep. It mostly works within 10 minutes but obviously I worry I'll be doing it forever. I haven't tried the keep pulling him down method (I too have a bad back and know it won't do it any good if I have to lower him with the rail pulled up (I usually hold him down with the rail down so I can kneel). A friend said it worked with her children.

lunchtime nap now-he went into his cot at 12-15 and its now12-50. I tried a few things, i left him standing in the cot till he was calling me , then kept laying him down, but he was getting so tired and losing his balance so tried pulling him away before he stands-more tears! then eventually I held him down gently one hand on his back and one on his side, hes asleep but really seems to be struggling to keep still. its like every cell in his body is saying"STAND UP" cant be easy for him, with me ruining all his fun
