Are his daytime naps affecting night sleep?

Hi all, I have posted before asking something similar but need to again, am desperate now, my 12wo lb wakes constantly in the night, not crying just tossing and turning in a half sleep, does not settle again until I put his dummy back in.
All I hear is that is normal, some babies are restless sleepers etc etc however I have seen every hour for 12 weeks now and need to do something to change his restless sleep.
Could he be napping too much during the day?
He has approx 1.5hrs in the morning, and a long nap in the afternoon sometimes 2.5-3hrs, he is usually awake for approx 2hrs at a time having his bottle, being changed and play etc but seems to get over stimulated so fast he goes into melt down if he doesn't get his sleep.
I am thinking about co-sleeping tonight to see if that makes a difference, I am not comfortable with co-sleeping though so any other suggestions would be so much help.
Thank you

If anything he may be having too much awake time, not too much sleep.

You don't need to restrict baby's sleep at 12 weeks old, or indeed for a long time yet. Baby needs as much sleep as possible through the daytime and night time.

What are the timing of your sleeps through the daytime? Baby might actually be over-tried with too long awake. Short, frequent naps mean baby doesn't spend too long awake for any stretch of time. 2 hours awake would be the upper limit of awake time I would aim for at this age. Generally I would be trying to get my baby to sleep 60-90 minutes after waking.

Restless sleep could also be down to not enough feeds. Try feeding much more frequently through the daytime - every 2 or 3 hours of so. Or longer gaps between feeds but expect more night feeds.

If 'dummy won't do' for settling baby, then it usually means baby is hungry.
