Night nannies

Hi,

Has anyone ever used a night nanny? Due twins in a few months, wondering if it's worth spending some spare savings on some overnight help - had a he'll of a time with #1 and felt close to losing my mind through lack of sleep. Not sure whether full-time, or part-time over a longer period would work. What do they do? I'm planning on attempting breastfeeding, at least for a few weeks, but fully expect to move to bottles quite quickly.

Any experiences?

I had triplets and had night nannies for the first three months three nights a week and i dont think id have survived without. Although i did still get up to help but not for half as long as i would have been. I also didnt breastfeed but id reccomend one if you can afford x

I had one with dd3. She was born premature and had to be woken every three hiurs to feed (which effectively meant all night as she took over two hiurs to feed 30ml due to her size and prem and then had literally just finished feeding and gone back to sleep and I had to wake her again!). I booked a nurse 2 nights a week for the first few weeks and it made such a difference. She slept in room with dd3, looked after her and fed her (bottle) all night and I caught in on sleep giving me energy to look after my other dds.

Thanks, sounds like it can be helpful. I'll have a further look at agencies, costs and things, but the more I think about it, the more I think it'll be worth it to help save my sanity.
