18 month sleep regression

My DS has recently started waking in the night screaming the house down. At first we thought it was teething but it's been happening for a couple of weeks and he's not like this during the day when he naps. We didn't really have sleep regression at any of the other normal times and have been blessed with a good sleeper since he was tiny so are at a loss as to what to do. We had to do some controlled crying after his 1st bday as he became really unsettled after starting with his childminder. What should we do? Try more cc or just wait for it to pass? If we pick him up, he settles straight away. If we put him down and sit by his bed we can usually get him to go back to sleep but I really don't want to create bad sleep associations! Please offer any suggestions.....we're exhausted and don't know what to do next Hmm

Thanks in advance x

DD had a terrible sleep regression when she was 18 months old, went from sleeping through the night to waking up between 4 -6 times per night. After a few weeks we finally twigged....cold feet. We had stopped using her gro bag (sleeping bag thing) as it was too small & started using a cot duvet. So we put socks on her one night & she slept through again.
Although your DS's sleep regression may be due to something completely try the socks.

Hi! Thanks for replying. DS is still in a grobag so I don't think it'll be cold feet but good to know it can be something as simple as that. I wonder if being in a different room might be causing it? We're having work done at home and he's moved rooms as the layout of upstairs is changing. He's in the same cot but a different room. Now I think about it, the night wakings have been happening since we switched rooms.
