any advice for moving 18mo dd into her own room

I wish I had moved her when she was tiny and wouldn't notice too much, but at the time I felt very strongly that I needed her near.

I tried a couple of months ago, but after three nights of hysterical screaming and no sleep, I gave in and moved her back. During that attempt I got up to try and settle her back down, gave her cuddles in the rocking chair and tried every trick in my book, but she was still hysterical.

My plan is to sleep in a single bed in her room with her for a few nights this time until she settles in there. is that a good idea?

I think it's time to move her as we are disturbing each other and I would really like my room back to myself.

Any advice would be fantastic as I really dont want a repeat of the last try. thanks.

Are you doing naps in the cot and playtime in the room? How is she if you go away for the night or is she in with you then too?

Her cot is still in my room and she naps in there.

She has always been in with me, never slept in another room apart from when I tried a while back. She plays in the room most days as her toys that won't fit in the lounge are in there.

I think single bed in her room is a good idea. As long as it is done with a plan to get you back to sleeping in your own bed and is only a short term interim.

I was thinking three nights? Just until she settles in there. it also gives me a place to lay and cuddle her if she is poorly without bringing her back to my bed in the future.
