How dark do you have your LO's room?

We use a blackout blind and curtains. At bedtime its pretty dark in his room but in the night it is pitch black. Is this too dark? I've never used a nightlight and don't really want to. He doesn't seem to show signs of being worried about the dark. He chatters away to himself before sleeping. Just wondering how dark everyone else has their rooms? He is 12mo by the way! (We use the blackout as he plays around at bedtime and early morning waking, he still wakes in the night 1 - 3 times).

We have blackout blinds but doors open and a lamp on a table in the hall. This means we can do feeds and get to our own room without turning on more lights.
They are 3 months and 19months. The older one started to dislike pitch bkack around 6 months , but it was during a 3 day power cut in mid winter so maybe it was just to dark.

We had dark rooms when the kids were babies and then introduced a nightlight later on when they started getting scared of the dark/needed to get up for the toilet

Pitch black - blackout blinds as babies/toddlers. Both slept really well and still love their sleep now ( aged 12 and 17).

Black.

What do you prefer in your own bedroom? Aim for that because it will be more practical if room sharing in the future.

We had them dark as babies. These days they're older and make their own choice - dc 1 and 2 sleep in pitch black, blackout blinds, the works. Dc3 has a light on, not afraid at all but just likes the nightlight Smile. They were all brought up the same Confused

Blackout blinds here - babies aren't afraid of the dark. I remember reading once you need to remember that tgey're used to the dark from when they were inside you!

DS1 always had it pitch black, he is 6yo now and still has it pretty dark but can sleep with it lighter. I love a dark bedroom, can't sleep if it's too light. Will carry on how I am then!

Absolutely pitch black with both a gro blind and blackout linings on the curtains. My husband and I both like a pitch black room to sleep in as well and struggle to sleep if it's too bright. The baby is 5 months, is she likely to develop a fear of the dark, is this something they all do eventually?

ds still has a nightlight at age 8 as he doesn't like pitch black. Dd stopped using hers a few years ago and is 11. Both had dark rooms as babies

As dark as possible - we have a black out blind in the recess and a black out roller blind on top. Helps them to sleep for about 5 minutes longer in the morning.

never dark enough - sunlight always creeps in and wakes him up. I have many friends who's kids wont sleep without a light on though.

As dark as poss with a dim nightlight to stop me walking in to things. Read an article on it once and it said something like the ideal darkness for a baby (100% being pitch black) is something like 95%
