Is it normal for my teething baby to be so sleepy?

My DS is 7 1/2months and got his first tooth through last weekend. He has been grumpy, as usual with teething i know, but otherwise much the same, and still smiling most of the time. The last couple of days and nights however he has been moaning nearly all the time, he's not smiling much at all, and is really really sleepy in the daytime. He was having 3 solid meals a day with breastfeeding in between, but now doesn't want anything except to breastfeed all the time while dozing/sleeping - however he now also wakes up at the slightest thing - before he would sleep through anything. Just wanted to check that this was normal - he just seems like such a different baby, especially with the refusal of solids and the sleepiness. Any reassurance welcome!

totally normal.

my 12 mnth old is doing this at the moment, not eating, sleeping for 4 hours a day and 13 hrs at night, slightest thing will wake her, and she is a grizzle-monster during the day. Calpol helps, along with bonjela but im just having to ride the wave!

It's totally normal.

We had same thing with dd1, and sorry to say with each subsequent tooth that came through as well, food and sleep went out the window for a few days. But you do get a break in between each round at least!

No doubt you will also have friends like ours whose children "didn't notice teeth coming through". It's just luck of the draw as to whether your child feels it badly or not.

Thank you, feeling much less worried now
