15 month old sleeping on her front

Do I need to worry about SIDS anymore?

My DD has been very slow in motor development, not walking yet and has only just learnt to turn / sit up in her cot in the last few weeks. But suddenly a lot more mobile and has started to sleep on her front the last few nights (sometimes awkwardly, in a kneeling position).

I am not really worrying about this. Should I be? Is 15 months out of the woods for SIDS?

If she can roll on to her front and roll back then you have no need to worry. My DD2 often sleep in what seems to me to be the most awkward positions, including but in the air and face buried in her pillow

I beleve the general rule for infant sleeping is, once they can turn over themselves, you leave the child to find their own position in bed. Because what else are you going to do - keep turning them onto theie back, & risk waking them up?

Caveat - not any kind of expert.

Thanks - helpful (both replies)...

Yes, up until recently she couldn't turn in bed (seriously only learnt to roll at 14 months in bed or anywhere). but not worried now.

And yes, did turn her earlier and paid for it with a crying bubba for the next 15 mins!

If she can turn back over then she should be fine. My 14mo dd also sleeps on her front kneeling with her bum in the air Grin

It's hilarious, isn't it? The bum in air position! Looks so uncomfortable...
