4m sleep cue

My DD is 4 months old and having sleep issues. Up until a couple of weeks ago she was sleeping in her cot next to the bed with only one or occasionally two wakes during the night. During that stage she would only half wake to feed and go straight back into the cot no problem.

Now she is awake 4 or 5 times through the night and seems very windy - she quite often farts herself awake! She is also sleeping restlessly and quite often wakes when I try to put her down. I have tried leaving her and shushing but she won't settle unless I pick her back up, let her suck a bit and start the whole routine again. This can go on for two or three attempts to put her down before I manage it. I have resorted to bringing her back into bed with me a couple of nights just so I can sleep, but only because DP is away. He is such a heavy sleeper that co sleeping with him home is not an option.

Her naps during the day seem much better, she drops off easily and sleeps for roughly 45 mins usually 4 times a day. So, two questions really! What am I doing wrong at night that's making her so unsettled? And how can I wean her off feeding to sleep and introduce a new sleep cue? She won't take a dummy.

She hasnt got colic has she? Or just wind? Our son would do this awful piercing scream and though he didnt have colic, when we gave him gripe water, it made it easier for him to pass wind and go to the toilet and it stopped about a month later.

could be 4 month sleep regression...or could be she is becoming more aware of her surroundings and your presence is disturbing her. White noise can mask sounds of you rustling or turning or coughing in the night etc....I just put white noise in my DD's room at 8 months and she suddenly started sleeping through the night so I am evangelical about it at the moment ! Radio turned to static is all you need. My DD was very windy in the night too at around 4/5 months so it may just be a stage...had to make sure I burped her / held upright for a while after night feeds etc this was really hard though when she was asleep on me and I jsut badly wanted to put her back down and go back to sleep.
Infact your post sounds very similar to my DD at 4 months. As soon as I'd put her back in her cot (next to me in bed) she would wake up when I shuffled down into my position in bed again and pulled the covers over me (I fed her sitting up in bed) .....she was just so disturbed by me being there next to her ! So we moved her into her own room at 4.5 months. I was terrified at first and it felt really weird but it made a big difference I think.
