Child Waking Because Covers Have Slipped Off

Hi there,

Does anyone else have this problem? DS2 (5) will wake at between 5 and 6 every morning because his duvet has slipped onto the floor. Of course then he never goes back to sleep. DS1 (7) never had this problem. It happens any time of year - in the summer obviously because he generally just has his duvet cover with no duvet inside so it doesn't have the weight to stay on him. In winter I think he gets too hot initially and pushes it down, but then by the early hours he is cold enough to wake.

I used to put a bed sheet across the bed width ways and tuck it in to hold his duvet/cover in place but he's so tall now that his toes stick out. And get cold.

Does anyone else have this problem? Or have a solution?

TIA

Is his bed against a wall? If so you could tuck it in under the mattress at one side, or get a double duvet and do the same.

I'd either go for fluffy warm onesie PJs to stay warm, or wrap the duvet width ways across the bed and tuck it in (if you have a toddler bed) or a bigger double duvet to tuck in if you have a full sized single bed.

We go for fluffy, warm onesies for bed. Then we re-cover with the duvet (that is kicked off) when we go to bed.

I had this problem and switched to double duvet instead of single. Problem solved.

I also give my ds a sleeping bag liner or end-opening duvet cover which he lies inside like a sleeping bag. This helped for the times it was too hot and the duvet got pushed down or and side - he was always covered by something...

You can get gro bags for older kids too. Cosy. Comfy and its not going anywhere!

Grobags go up to aged 3.

We're using the gro-duvet cover for dd (nearly 3) - zips up the sides of the attached bed sheet so they can't fall out. Very handy as she hangs out of bed like its a hammock sometimes.

Have realised after reading this thread though we could have just used a tucked in double duvet - doh!

We used duvet clips which were a life saver for this problem. They clip on either side and go under the mattress.
