Routine at 15 weeks old?

Who follows a sleep, feed, play routine and does it actually work? Tried for my little one and doesnt work. He'd rather sleep after bf. Is it too soon for a routine?

I've followed the loosely EASY (Eat, Activity, Sleep, You time) schedule for my DC4 since about 8 weeks old. Not forced on her, just as a structure to the day that was lead by DD, not me. She was EBF to 12 weeks and then mix fed.

Initially she was on a 90 minute rotation and by about 12 weeks it was 2 to 2 1/2 hourly rotation.

I find it very useful to

  • introduce structure to your day in a baby lead way
  • ensure regular sleeping
  • ensure regular feeding
  • separate feeding and sleeping

Your DS will need some means to trigger sleep, if not feeding. I used bouncy chair and dummy.

DD is now 5 1/2 months old and had just started shifting to longer, less frequent naps so has her sleeps in the cot rather than bouncy chair. As a consequence of longer sleeps developing, the EASY schedule has moved to 3 or 4 hourly through the daytime and then back to two hourly from 3pm to bedtime.

Definitely works for us Smile

That should read ... "I have loosely followed the EASY schedule..."

(added "loosely" as an afterthought, in the wrong place in the sentence Blush)
