6-7month daytime naps

Are yours in any sort of routine yet with daytime naps?
If so, could you tell me what routine that is please? Smile

Ds is 6.5months and sleeps really well at night but during day there's no pattern, no routine, except he has his first nap at 10.30 for about
30mins (wakes 8ish).

That's it for routine. Sometimes he'll have a long nap in the afternoon, as well as a few more short naps. Sometimes it's only short naps but lots of them.

Feeding is at 8am, 11am, 2pm, 5pm & 8pm. So that's routined. So thought his naps might start forming a pattern too.

Just wondered if there's a norm, and if so what it is.

Thanks

Iirc ds was transitioning from 3 to 2 naps and would have either 2 90 minute naps or 2 x 45 minutes and 1 x 90 minute nap.

It was a pain as you never really knew until it was happening how long it'd be. He did consolidate to 2 naps at c.7 months

Completely by accident, we've ended up with a routine that turns out to be pretty similar to those suggested by baby books for our 6 month old. All I did was decide on a regular wake up time and bedtime then naps fell into place pretty much on their own. This is what our day looks like:

6.30 - awake, nappy change, breastfeed
7.10 (ish) - breakfast
08.30 - nappy change, down for nap
10.30 - up from nap, breastfeed
11.30 - lunch
12.30 - nappy change, down for nap
14.30 - up from nap, breastfeed
16.30 - nappy change, down for cat nap
17.00 - up from nap, bottle feed
17.15 (ish) - dinner
18.30 - bath, pjs, breastfeed
19.00 - down for the night

Rinse and repeat! I do also wake ds if he is due a feed and is still sleeping, in order to fit all 3 naps in before 17.00. Speaking of, better go get him!

My LO is just over 7 months and still has 3 naps a day. He usually only naps for 45 mins at a time so I don't think he'll drop to 2 naps until he starts to nap longer at a time. I put him down 2 hours after waking and then 2-3 hours after waking from the first nap. The last nap is generally around 4pm. Something like this -

Wake 6:30
Nap 8:30-9:15
Nap - 12 ish
Nap - 3:30/4 ish
Bed - 7-7:30

6 months here and over the last few weeks has been transitioning from 4 short naps to 2 naps. Up around 7am, first nap is at 10am and usually is 30 min but sometimes 1 hour (has even been 2 hours if we've been swimming first!). I know most would put their babies down sooner, but he just battles for longer until finally falling asleep around the same time.

Afternoon nap is around 1-1.30pm and usually in the pram. It is usually at least 1.5 hours, and can be up to 3, but today it was just 30 min. On a day like today, I would then put him down for a late afternoon nap around 4-4.30pm for 30 min, otherwise he would struggle to make it to bedtime, which is at 7.30pm.

So as you can see, it's not a very predictable routine! Inbetween this and weaning there doesn't seem much time to get out of the house. Not much point signing up for any baby classes when he might be napping through them.

Thanks everyone.
Today he had a 30 min nap at 10.30, then a 30 min nap at 3.. And that's it! Shock. So this is new. I thought when he went down for the afternoon nap it would be a long one and this would be the way forward. But no.

Daffodil I totally know what you're saying about time. We have no time if I give him 3 meals a day that he throws on the floor & trying to get his naps in etc.
I'm not giving him food all the time, just if I'm eating something he can, I give him some, or if we've got an hour to spare will give him something messy so I can bath him after.
But I totally get the no time thing. It's so frustrating!

Google the 2 3 4 routine

Worked for me & DS

We are now 15 months in & I still always refer back to it for age appropriate routine Smile

I know, I actually think it was easier when he was on 4 short naps, as at least we could do them in the car on the way to/from activities. Actually I tried this the other day for his morning nap, as it is usually just 30 min anyway. I figured I could just sit in the car park once I got to the shops and wait for him to wake up. Well, after sitting in the car for an hour, I had to wake him up, so that didn't work as predicted either!
