11 month old sleeping on front on a pillow

Just seems to be the only way she will fall asleep .

She's been in our bed for the last few weeks and has ended up sleeping on her tummy, with her head on her arms, on top of a pillow.

I've been trying to get her back in her cot and have just managed to settle her by putting a pillow in there - she's assumed the same position.

Am I being a terrible mother, is this dangerous at her age, or am I being over cautious even worrying about it? Her sister used to settle herself with a dummy but she won't take one and this pillow seems to be the only way she is comfortable.

Looking for advice please wise ladies, please be kind. Thank you.

My ds moved into a proper single bed at 13 months (as was climbing out his cot) so not much older and sleeps on a pillow most nights.

His bed is so comfy as well! I have no idea why he sleeps sideways along his pillow. But still does it now at 18 months.

I'm no universal expert, but in my experience this would have been ok with my DD who was mobile at that age and could have easily moved herself if she were constricted.

I think that the sleep on back advice is for babies that can't roll over, move their head etc.
at 11 months my children were all walking so could easily get th selves up and change position if they needed to. A 1 month old wouldn't be able to lift thier head and breathe, roll over etc so could possibly suffocate. A 1 year old is much less likely too, risk is probably nearly the same as an older child.

Thanks for the advice, I had freaked myself out by googling. She's really mobile and I'm sure she could move if she wanted to. I'm just so relieved to have her back in her cot!

We put DD2 to sleep on her front and have done since we finally got her out of our bed 6 months BUT she has a breathing monitor, there is no way I would put her on her front without it, I am a massive worrier though Grin.
