Moses basket vs sling

DS is 13 weeks. I am very lucky that she will self settle in her Moses basket for naps. However she generally only sleeps for half an hour, whereas in the sling she'll often sleep for much longer.
She wakes up from her Moses basket naps quite happy but if she doesn't have enough daytime sleep she is harder to get down at night.

What do you reckon - is it best to persevere with the Moses basket and wait for naps to lengthen or go for the sling and risk her getting less used to the basket? Or a combination of both?
(I do have a DS who is 2 but he never napped anywhere but on me for the first 6 months, so I'm constantly amazed that DD sleeps and self settles and don't wsnt her to stop doing this!).

Personally, I'd stick with the moses basket as having baby in a sling for naps as he gets older and heavier will do your back in!!

Sorry, she!

Id aim for one long nap a day. So for the morning nap and late afternoon nap - basket. Pop her in the sling once youve eaten lunch to have a long nap then. eventually (hopefully) she will be so used to a long nap then after a while she will do it in the basket.

Mind, you might not want to listen to me as I hated slinging the baby. Used to put dd in her buggy in a dark room for her lunchtimenap and rock her off to sleep and she would do a long nap then.

Mine was the same. I used the sling to get him into a routine for daytime naps. At that age they need to be close to you. It doesn't mean they'll only nap on you forever!

Having said that with a decent sling there's no reason carrying a toddler plus will hurt your back at all. My ds is 18 months and generally naps in cot but sometimes if I'm out and a pushchair is not convenient he'll sleep in the sling and it's fine.

Thank you. I'm so unused to a baby who actually sleeps, I have been a bit wrong footed by it.
Thank you for the advice. I think I'll stick with the basket for first and last naps and do some sling naps for the middle one.

Bit of the other way round here. If all the stars align I can get DS2 (14weeks) to nap in crib and he'll sleep 2/3hrs. But mostly he's in the sling - where he'll now only sleep for 30mins. I can almost set my watch and PING his little eyes open... I feel bad as he obviously wants long naps as he has them in his crib, must most of the time he just gets catnaps :(
