Dont know any sites, but how old is he?

littlepiggieneedssomesleep · 20/10/2006 21:47

6 months.
It is habit, likes warm cuddly breastfeeds in the night. If i dont feed his as he was only fed an hour earlier, dh goes to him, takes about 30 min to get him to sleep, but sleeps for longer.

What do you want a site for - to teach you how to do it, or for support whilst going through it?

just to read about it, see if ther are any ideas that i can use, what to expect sleep wise at this age, that kind of thing.
If hd is at work i do the going back evert 2-3 min, say night night, time for sleepies. but if its in the night and he wakes up he wants a feed, even if he is not hungry, thats when dh goes to him, does the patting bum, holding hand or just sit next to the cot, whot ever he seems to need that night.

I think i just need someone to tell me that its ok, i have people that say just leave him to cry it out, and just shut the door so that you cant here him, but i cant do that.

In that case I'd recommend getting the book 'solve your childs sleep problems' by Richard Ferber. It shows the amount of sleep expected at different ages (average 14 hours a day at your DS's age) and talks you through exactly how to do cc.

It is very important to be consistent in how you do it though, so make sure you know what to do before you start.

I did it with my DD to get her to settle herself to sleep when she was just under 6 months and again a couple of weeks ago to get rid of night feeds.

Good luck.

there is a fantastic book which i found amazing called "Teach Your Child to Sleep" it covers everything from how much sleep they need, problems / different solutions / how to do it / when to do it / pros and cons etc.. i found it a lifesaver - it is from the Millpond sleep clinic, costs £9,99. You can get it at mamatoto.co.uk (i have a free P&P code which is KF1ZZ140 which anyone can use).
Good luck!
