Is DS too cold at night?

DS (18 months) typically wakes 3 times a night, and has 1 nap of 20mins a day. I am exhausted. I've always closely followed advice about temperature and sleep, so in his room it's 16 or 17 degrees and he wears a sleepsuit, PJ top and has a 2.5 tog sleeping bag.

Today, for the first time, he has napped for over 2 hours. He fell asleep in the pram and I left him zipped up in the cozy-toes, something I've never done before. Now I'm wondering if he has been too cold all this time. Shall I try dressing him more warmly tonight?

Has he had any other longer naps when he's been more cosy? I know you're not meant to use blankets with a sleeping bag but DD1's room sometimes went down to 14/15 during the night so at that age in winter I used one over the sleeping bag, up to her armpits, just a big cellular one. On the other hand I'd have expected the number of layers you describe to be ok at that temp.

My sons room was always in the 20's my house was 25-30 degrees all year round. He sleeps naked in a primary green throw and he's not cold try adding a blanket and see if that makes a different

16/17 degrees is very cold! 21/22 for comfort imo.

To be honest all babies will sleep longer if they're really warm....but you don't want him overheating. I remember when DS1 was about 4 weeks old and we took him out in his sling with quite a few layers on and a fleecy jacket and it was an unusually warm September day. He slept for hours while we were out and when we got back he seemed a bit spaced out and the MIL who was trying to be polite said she thought he was a bit too warm. So I'm a bit paranoid about it but 16/17 is quite cool. Our bedroom tends to be about 18-20.

My 14 month old is in similar layers at 19/20 degrees ... I always dress her with one more layer than the grobag chart suggests. I'd put a vest on your son under his sleepsuit.

My DD is 18m and was waking regularly if her room temp dropped below 17.

She wears a vest, pjs and a 2.5 tog bag.

I've put a fleece blanket under the sheet in her cot which seems to help.

Our house is about 16 at night, I don't find it that cold. my 14mo ds will be in a vest, long pjs and a 2.5 bag. He never seems bothered by the cold, but I think I've always underdressed him so he just doesn't feel it. Anyway, point is, everyone is different and maybe your ds just feels the cold a little more?! (I always sleep with long pjs on atm and dh always sleep naked and we are in the same bed!)
