I'm off to visit family in a couple of weekends and staying in a premier inn. I have only just got my dd sleeping through after 8 months of waking 2 or 3 times a night. We have a strict bedtime routine. We will be at family's house in the evenings and I want to keep to routine but I was thinking of doing it a hour later so wee don't have to leave at 6. Was going to bath at family's house then drive to hotel where we'll watch bedtime programme and bottle then bed. Hoping this will work. Other thing is we are all in same room and dd stirs at everything. Ahh!!
Has anyone got any tips on coping with this or am I panicking over nothing.
(Sorry for long thread)

Take along any familiar bedtime things - sleeping bag, comforter, dummy, teddy etc. Perhaps also take your own travel cot (maybe invest in one if you don't have one, they can be bought second hand fairly cheaply) and start having her play in it for short periods of time & possibly even nap in there, so she gets used to it.

Also take along plenty of bottles & ready-made cartons of formula if bottle-feeding. I would do bath etc at the hotel, because the last thing you want is for her to fall asleep at relative's house & then have to be woken to be transitioned into the cot at the hotel.

As for disturbing her, when we have DC in the hotel room with us, we go to bed when they do & maybe read a kindle or browse internet, something so you don't have a light on which may disturb her.

Last of all - and I know you won't want to hear this! - but you may just have to get through it! It's only one weekend, in the grand scheme of things, and hopefully she'll settle back into a routine once back home.

Thanks for all that advice to be honest it's exactly what I need to hear. We were thinking about taking IPad to use when she's asleep so will do that. Thank you for replying

I don't know if this is an option but s couple of times we've booked interconnecting rooms at a premier inn (when they have their £29 offers) and then put ds to bed next door and the have got a takeaway and watched telly!

I have worried about this too, as ds was always a bad sleeper. He usually surprised us though and if it was a bad night, then he snapped straight back to his usual routine once home.

Try not to let the worry spoil your trip away.
