Co-sleeping

I plan to buy a co-sleeper cot as I'll be breastfeeding and last baby ended up in my bed every night anyway.

This might seem like a silly question but when baby goes to bed for the night ahead of me (hopefully!), there'll only be 3 sides to the cot, the other side obviously is my bed.. When the baby is very little or when I'm there that won't matter but as it gets a bit older if I'm not there surely it's possible for them to shuffle over and even out of the bed?

I had a cot (from Mothercare I think) that had a mechanism whereby the side could drop and then be stowed right underneath, thus creating a co-sleeper. When DS was older I could use it just as a conventional drop-side cot. Would something like that work for you, to contain baby until you are there?

Some cosleepers have a fourth side that can be put up - e.g. our snuzpod has a zipped panel.

Thanks, must investigate further. The ones I have seen attach to bed and I can't see how the fourth side would attach as well but maybe depends on type.

We have the bednest and the side that attached to the bed has a panel that clips into place when needed. I would recommend the bednest, it's been great for us, you can hire (as we have done) or buy one from the nct website.
