Hi

Have 18 month old DS generally goes from 1900 to 0700 he has about an hours nap in the day.

However for the last few weeks he has been waking up in the early hours I have change his nappy bottle to suck on and away he went however it is getting worse as in he won't re-settle.

So I up'ed nappy size and started changing him when I went to bed, no this still doesn't work and for the last two nights we've had to bring him in to bed with us hubby manages to go back to sleep I don't though not till DS is asleep again and then it's very uncomfortable.

What is waking him, I think wet nappy but what else can I do? I'm hanging here with weeks and weeks of interrupted sleep why has gone from sleeping through to not?

Help

I would disturb him as little as possible and treat it how you would if he woke earlier in the night - how would you respond if he woke at 11pm, say? Or is that when you're bringing him in with you?

If I changed DS's nappy or bought him into bed or gave him milk I don't think he'd get that it's still night/sleep time. What is he like when he wakes in the night - crying or playing?

My personal opinion - at that age our goal is to help them learn to sleep independently, so I try not to do things that feel like a step backwards.

Hi
I change him about 2200-2300 when we go to bed and he is fine.

He wakes in the early hours of the morning, and he screams out of frustration he wants out of the vote, doesn't want to be left.

I don't really know why he is waking in the early hours.

Growth spurt?

Molars?

Could be night terrors, they are apparently quite common in toddlers.

Hi all

An update after suggestions on here and some further reading, I put a sanitary towel in nigh time nappy, gave neurofen in case of teeth, a fruit purée pouch half hour before bed I case of growth spurt and hungry, didn't change nappy when I went to bed and".........,,

I'm pleased to say he went through to 0500 - hurrah we got some sleep :0)

Thanks everyone

Our little boy was the same. He's now 3 and has been waking at 5/530 since he was 18 months. Apparently it's a stage. A bloody long one. Ds2 is almost one so soon we can look forward to two early risers..... I'm can't wait to return to gmt...!
