How does your baby go to sleep?

5 month old DS has overnight become extremely difficult to get to go to sleep. None of the old tricks seem to work any more and I don't know what to do with him. Everything says he is still too young to sleep train, but he won't fall asleep on me either.

What do you do to put your baby to sleep?

Thanks.

I've had to sleep train mine as he would only fall asleep being rocked and walked around! This was 2 weeks ago, he's nearly 4 months old.
I used the baby whisperer method. Established a routine, dark routine, I sing to him for a little bit, then just cuddle for 3-5 minutes. Lay him in the crib, say goodnight. Put one hand on his tummy and shush him until he sleeps. The first couple of times he would get really upset, cry scream etc. then I'd just use the PUPD method to get him to calm down. Now i almost never have to use PUPD with him! He normally falls asleep at night within 20 minutes, and for naps it only takes 5 minutes!

Dark room, not routine lol

I was reading the "No Cry Sleep Solution" which doesn't involve leaving a baby to cry which is aimed at 4 month+. I thought there was some good advice in there, maybe check it out.

My DS is bf until drowsy and then put down. It works about half the time, so I have to be persistent. Until recently he would only go to sleep while feeding but I am trying to get him out of the habit.

Ginger this is what we have been and are still doing. It worked great until a week ago but it is taking longer and longer to get him to drop off and he wakes up again soon after.

I have read 'No Cry' but don't think it offers any real solutions.... if there are any real ones out there???
