My 8 mo ds will not tolerate a sleeping bag thingy no way lol he hates it .

Sooooo now the weather is turning cold , I'm using blankets. Is it best to layer thin blankets ? Do I make up the cot with a top sheet like you would an adults bed? I know he can't have a duvet, what about a thick fleecy blanket if it got really cold? ATM he's kicking his cellular blanket off

What are all you non- sleeping bag mummy's doing ?

When my ds was born in feb it was obviously chilly but we co slept at first, so it wasn't an issue . And during the long , hot summer he's been in his cot in just a vest or sleep suit or combo

Thanks !

Ps we have the heating on timer so the room is about 21 or 22 degrees. Just worried the temperature will drop in the night ha ha can't you tell he's my pfb!

Mine wont either!

I discovered from his very very early days that he prefers woolly blankets so when its quite cold he has one of those and a celluar ontop.

He often sleeps with his blankets over his head so I have to make sure whatever I use is breathable (he screams if attempt to adjust them!).

I didn't use sleeping bags with dc3, instead I just put a fleecy sleepsuit over his regular sleepsuit/pyjamas and it keeps him warm all night. Tbh that's a pretty warm room at 21/22 degrees so he should be fine. Smile

I've never used sleeping bag with any of mine an they are all winter born. I just layered blankets on them instead.

I started using a quilt with dd2 when she was about 9 months as it was the coldest winter for years and she wouldn't have a sleeping bag. I just tucked the end under the mattress so she couldn't pull it over her head and she was fine.

If the room is 21-22 degrees you only need to use a thin blanket and maybe have another to put on in the middle of the night it the temp drops.

Thanks mums!

I know that is quite a warm room by anyone's standards but in the mornings his little hands feel quite cool ( again probably normal )

Many thanks for the reality check, I tend to worry about the stupidest things !

Another alternative, mine hates sleeping bags and kicks all blankets off, so we use padded sleep suits equivalent to 2.5 tog. Mothercare sell them and so far she's in a vest and that and it works well. Probably a more expensive option as smaller size range and if she wets through etc its straight in the wash so I need a few. But they're often on eBay :)
