Ds is 6months old and wakes every 2-3hrs during the night.wouldnt necessarily bother me,but we have slight trauma from dd,now 2,who was the same, got worse, and to this day still doesn't sleep through. Added to this,I work night shifts once or twice a week and 'poor' dh just can't deal with a broken nights sleep (cue violins...ahem)
so here's my bright idea.ds doesn't use a dummy.easiest way to get him back to sleep in the night is obviously to feed him.if I were to replace feeds with dummy (assuming he'd agree to take it), do we think he may start to wake up less?or is it just giving myself another annoying challenge when its time to chuck the dummy?
just adding he goes to sleep beautifully at nap time and bed time with no help...

It can be either way. If he takes the dummy and keeps it in, it may be great. A lot of babies that age have issues with waking if the dummy falls out. I would spend a lot of time in the day, away from sleeping, to help him learn to put the dummy back in himself. You may want a few scattered in the cot so there's one within reach. If he doesn't take the dummy, there are many other options to help him learn to sleep better too.
