My little girl suffers from really bad nightmares and I'm so worried with Halloween approaching! I took her shopping last week and she freaked out at the halloween aisle in the supermarket. I'm scared that she is going get worse with it all and the nightmares will develop. She is 4 years old.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks x

I don't get this - how would Halloween possibly effect your daughter, how would she know? I presume you're not taking her trick or treating so I'm not sure what the issue is?

Can you try explaining to her that its all pretend and just for fun?

Could you find some books or cartoons about friendly ghosts/witches etc to take away fear factor.

How would she know it's Halloween?

The only reason mine know is we take to a Halloween party. Otherwise you can just have a normal day and put to bed like normal

There's a long way to go yet if she's already worried about it! Can you not tell her she might enjoy it, that it's fun.

There are lots of preschool and young children special TV programs. That might help show her what it's all about.

Curious George
Eloise
Cat in the Hat
Dora
To name but a few.

I think I would tell her she's being a bit daft. She could dress up as a cat maybe and answer the door.

Wouldn't she be in bed when trick or treaters came round in the evening. I don't get why she would or should even know it's Halloween?
