Why are you waking little one? Why??

Can anyone give me any suggestions as to why my 7 month old boy doesn't sleep well, he's my 2nd and I was so determined to do things 'by the book' this time around (but actually my cuddled and bf to sleep little girl was a much better sleeper - although I didn't appreciate this at the time!)

He naps well in his cot. If out in buggy or car he will snooze but not sleep for any length so I try to make sure he has two naps at home.

Fairly reliable bed time routine, he falls asleep easily and happily - goes in cot wide awake, no sleep props (except cuddly toy)

Normally asleep at 7...on a great night he'll sleep till 1am (it's more often 10pm) and have a 7oz bottle...but the he wakes every one or two hours...and I have no idea why! Or what really to 'do' as he settles himself at bed time, he's not hungry but will sometimes take a dummy (he doesn't have this at 7) sometimes he's just wide awake and is always up for the day at 5ish.

I'm telling myself I just need to wait it out (listening to my babies cry at night makes me very stressed out so would rather go to him but I don't really understand what he wants Sad)

He has black out blinds and doesn't seem too hot or cold???

Could you give him water instead of milk during the night? That might help him learn it's not worth waking up at night.

i too have a seven month old who isn't sleeping through the night, he like yours seems to wake around 10, then on a good night once or twice more, but it can be every hour.
i currently think he has a cold and is teething so not ideal conditions to sort out his sleep.

i think once he has shaken off this cold i will try to get into a better daytime nap pattern, and from then on work on Nights, ds1 was also a poor sleeper so i w be re reading no cry sleep solution too (again).

Will try water, silly question but should this be in a bottle? He quite likes water...!

I've been blaming teeth but he has never slept well..he only has two teeth!!

I wish he'd just take a dummy or want to co-sleep or some easy option!!

Every book going says as he can settle himself he'll start sleeping long stretches, I'm beginning to feel a bit sorry for myself!! Zzzzzz
