At my wits end- 9 month old not sleeping at nursery

Barely- 15 minutes today and he was up at 630 am.I'm so worried. He's wrecked. This has been going in for almost a month.

Nursery don't seem too concerned but the minute amount of naps he is getting is beginning to effect his night time sleep.

So worried.

My ds1 didn't sleep too well at nursery but did manage at least an hour.

Any suggestions.

My DS started day nursery FT when my maternity leave ended - aged 5 months. He was wowed by the activity (being the first home with Mum was a tad boring!) He never wanted to sleep and they did persevere for a while but gave up. My DD three years later was similar. Normally not sleeping during the day will mean they sleep more hours at night but I am not clear what you mean. The nursery will have seen such variation that they take it in their stride - at his age if he needs sleep he will take it. Mine did like to stay up in the evening though on weekdays as we had a lot of fun together and never tried to put them to bed early. My DM, an HV, always said 'go with the flow' and accept how they are in matters of sleep and food/drink!

No, I'm afraid he is massively sleep deprived. He's 9 months old and missing out on at least 2 hours sleep a day.

It could really effect his development, cognitive skills. He's so wrecked is awful.

And no sleep during the day adversely effects night time sleep in my experience.

So worried. :(

The obvious one seems to take him out of nursery? Can you change to a nanny or a childminder- it sounds as though there is too much going on at Nursery and he can't settle.

I wouldn't worry too much, lists of kids don't sleep and they're fine

Have you discussed this with nursery? Are they willing to change what they do? What do they do differently than your routine at home? Different time of day?

Perhaps you could mirror what happens in nursery at home? We changed our dd lunch/nap time to match nursery schedule. Might something like familiar bedding help in the short term?

My ds used his sleeping bag from home at nursery, and that along with a dummy seemed to help him settle better. Agree if you cant solve this it might be better to look for a CM who can put him to bed in a cot in a silent dark room, like at home, rather than the more busy environemtn of a nursery. I guess nursery doesnt work for all children.
