Sleeping bag to duvet

Ds2 will be three in two weeks and is too big for his sleeping bags. We tried to move him to a duvet, and while he went to sleep happily, his sleep was so disturbed, lots of crying, sweating, waking all night long which he hasn't done for ages. After the third night we caved and squeezed him back into his sleeping bag, and he's slept a dream! Should we just get the next size sleeping bag (3-6) or persevere with a duvet? Have anyone else's children had this trouble with a duvet?

Marking place: DS (2.5) always kicks his off...hoping it'll settle when it's cooler.

I think I remember with one of mine putting a really thin duvet over the grobag for a while, then undoing the grobag at the sides!, then dispensing with the grobag! All over a week or so.

Think I missed the point of your thread, sorry Blush

We did also try tucking the duvet in, under the mattress..

Haha, dontmess, don't worry. I think he was too hot, so not sure duvet on top of grobag would work. He slept the whole night through last nigh, in his bag. And I'm following the next size up on ebay Blush. Not sure I can handle going back to sleepless nights Grin

Gro company do something called a gro to bed which is a gradual in between. Might be worth a go? Xx

What tog is the duvet? Should be max 4.5 tog for under 5s I think. So maybe get a summer one?

RoganJosh · 22/09/2014 13:31

Could you try fleece sleepsuit and empty duvet cover?
Is the duvet the right tog? I think they're meant to be 4 tog for small children?

We just use a duvet cover at the moment, as DD get hot too. But at first we turned it sideways so that it was tucked under both sides of the mattress and gave her a sense of security. Would that be worth a try?

I've looked at the gro to bed and it's too expensive, though I love the idea. His duvet is only a 2 tog, and it was well tucked in, he was still in it every time we went in to see him, so that shouldn't be the problem. Might try a sleepsuit and empty duvet cover when I'm feeling braver. I just wondered what it was that made him so unhappy?!
