I've forgotten what to do with early waking toddlers...

DS is 2.2 and is in a room with his sister (5). He goes to bed really nicely but since term started, he's been waking up at 5am. If he didn't wake DD, I'd leave him, but as it is, I have to get up with him. He won't sleep with me, or even just nicely cuddle, so it's downstairs for coffee (me) and cbeebies (him).

This seems to be the same whether he goes to bed at 6 or 7, or whether or not he has a nap. There's no heating, but he's not cold, it's not a light thing as it's still pitch dark outside. He just wants to get up.

I imagine it's just a case of surviving it, but just wondered if anyone had any thoughts.

Thanks.

Is there another room you could put your dd in for a few nights, even in with you? I think your ds needs to know it's still night time and that he can't get up. Could mean you repeatedly telling him but I think it's hard when they can't tell the time.

I bought my youngest 2 a clock that turns green at 7am (which I set it to) so they know it's time to get up. They were just 2 when I got it and it only took a couple of days for them to get it. With my eldest I put an old clock radio in his room and set it to come on very quietly at 7am so he knew he could only get up if the radio was on.

Having said that, maybe it's just a phase and he'll soon be sleeping like a baby (again!).

Good luck!!
