Putting clothing in the cot with your baby

I was advised earlier today that yo help DS sleep and stay that way it might help to put some clothing in with him that smells of me. Has anyone else been advised this or done this with success??

I was a bit anxious about putting clothing in with him so have instead put a muslin near his head which I rubbed over myself so it would smell of me.

Only problem I gave now is that DS is fast asleep on his front with his face turned side ways but the muslin is underneath his head.

I always intended to take the muslin away once he fell asleep for fear of it being a suffocation risk (?) but I know if I try to remove it now he will wake up Confused

How old is lo?
I rubbed breast milk into ds bed sheet, occasionally put used breast pad under mattress and now this is going to sound weird in the early days sat on his Moses basket mattress whilst bf just before bedtime - mostly to warm it and transfer smell so that when I put it down it was more like meBlush
But I guess yours is out of Moses basket if rolling on to front.
I'd just put your clothes near or tie round high bit of cot.

How old is he?

I once put a vest top over the mattress under the sheet if you know what I mean so he couldn't get to it.

I used to use my unwashed t shirt as a sheet.

I had forgotten about that. Desperation then; lovely memories now. Smile

He is just over 5 months.

That's a great idea about putting clothing under the sheet - much easier and safer.

I'm trying to decide whether to risk waking him by removing the muslin or just leave it there....Confused
