My dd is 11 weeks old today. Her typical routine is like this.
Wake between 6.30-7
Bf get her changed dressed me showered and dressed
She gets tired and is usually a sleep on me by 8 moved to cot or pram (depending on what we are doing that day)
1.30-2 hrs sleep then bf and awake playingfor about 45 mins before she get tired again.
Sleep again for 2 hrs following the same pattern as above until 10pm when after bf she falls asleep until 2 or 3am bf and then asleep until 6.30-7.
My question is Is this normal? If she doesn't sleep like this if we're busy or whatever she is really unhappy and over tired.

Hi Sparky. I think that sounds fine. My DS is 14 weeks and his routine is kind of similar
Wake between 6.30-6.45
Feed 7am
Nap 8/8.30-9.30/10
Feed 10
Nap 11-1
Feed 1
Nap 3-4
Feed 4
Nap 5-5.30
Feed and Bedtime 7
He then sleeps till morning. He struggles to stay awake longer than 1 hour 45 mins and if he does he's very unhappy and difficult to settle.

Hi Sparky - some babies just seem to need much more sleep than others. I was also worried my DS (11 wks also) was sleeping too much, esp in the mornings but was told by the Health Visitor that as long as he's not awake most of the night because of it then that's just the pattern that's normal for him. Also as long as the sleeping isn't v late in the afternoon (unless it's a short nap) and too close to bedtime that's fine. Your baby's sleep pattern will probably change as she gets a bit older and you'll find she's awake for longer periods but for now I'd just let her sleep as she wants.
