it is so hot at the moment (25 degrees in my room) that i was intending to put dd (3 weeks) to bed in just a sleepsuit with no blankets or sheets. is this ok? i cant leave the window open as its blowing a gale outside and the curtains and blinds are blowing in, and we dont have a fan.

any advice?

I always leave 1 little sheet up to knees-ish when really hot as it is guaranteed to get a lot cooler in a few hours.

I just checked our dd and she has a light blanket on even tho its really hot here
the temp. changes fast at night.

keep checking as baby may need 2 light blankets in a few hrs

ps. don't worry, if they are cold they will wake up!!

a cotton cellular blanket is perfect for hotter weather

Better for baby to be too cold then too hot. If cold, they'll wake and cry and you can always go in and add more covers.

DD was always a hot baby, and our place at the time was also pretty warm all the time, so she normally just has a light weight (/5 tog) Grobag and nappy on.

My DS2 has always hated covers, and often sleeps without any - i just alter his pyjama layers to match the weather!

Sounds ok to me

I would second the grobag option esp the grobag make ones. Ours came witha free room thermometer to tell you what they should wear for each temp. Tonight was pretty hot so dd went ot sleep in 1 tog grobag and vest. She'll be fine. As i go and wake her for 10.30 feed can check that the room isn't too cold and if needs be can put sleep suit on instead when I change her nappy. (Depends on ur routine though)

the grobag was great until he was about 14 / 15 months; then he would get angry and frustrated trying to fidget out of it. DS! was the same so in winter I would put a fleecy sleepsuit on top of his pjs.

thanks- i have a grobag ready but it hasnt been cool enough to use it yet- we have a room thermometer and its not been less than 23 since dd was born despite windows open etc.
i ended up putting her in just her sleepsuit then putting a sheet over her at about 1ish when i woke up.
thanks for your words of wisdom everyone!
