So DS has always been a wake every 2/3 hours kind of guy. We started off fretting and worrying and trying all the tips and advice thrown at us but eventually just relaxed, did our thing and lied to all the people who ask "is he sleepin through?". Thing is he was getting much better - going 3/4hours regularly and settling back down in his cot after a quick feed.
This week that went to pot! Suddenly the witching hour was back - uncontrollable crying from 1700 through until he settled at 1900 but then awake every hour and not settling. Calpol, Gaviscon (he used to have reflux), teething gel, infacol, formula,
Breast feeding,
Expressed milk -(not all at the same time!) none of it made a difference and by Wednesday he was waking every 20mins.
We cracked and brought him into our bed. We have co-slept the past few
Nights and he is back to waking ever 2/3
Hours but much easier to settle.
He is clearly still happy and healthy in himself and I'm currently thinking it might be teething. I'm not looking for tips on getting him to sleep through but to settle in the cot. Currently I feed him to sleep then plonk him down, this used to work a charm now he wakes 20mina later... Does anyone have any settling routine tips they could share?

Hello, my daughter is 5.5months old. She is a very active and alert baby so we give her about 30mins wind-down time laying on our bed (and also don't play too stimulating games im the hours before bed), low lighting and sing a little song whilst we massage in some cream as she has a few patches of eczema. When it's time for bed, we turn lights off and put fairy lights on, dummy in, she lays in the cot whilst I read her a story (what ever book I'm reading) in a low voice and she falls asleep. Often she likes to hold my finger as she goes off to sleep so I might think about giving her a comforter soon as she's just moved into a cot bed and needs some reassurance about being in there. This works well for my daughter and the wind-down is important for her. Best wishes.

Thanks newfamily. When do you last feed? We do bath, massage&sing, boob, bed but now he's getting bigger and loving splashing around in the bath it's not really a slow down!

Hi Charing, my daughter has her last bottle at 7pm, kept upright for at least 20mins (as had some silent reflux), relaxing time and then some baby porridge before bed. Again, after the porridge she is kept upright, then massage etc, eyes closed asleep at about 8.45pm. I think one of the big things that helped her sleep/settle was moving her milk away from immediately from bed. She also likes having fun in the bath now, so there is some time between it and bed. I sing a little song as we put on her cream (one that I made up and would be very embarrassed for anyone else to hear as it's so bad!) but I can visibly she her relax when I sing it as I think she associates it with relaxing for bed. Maybe give a song a go? And always sing it before bed?

Oh sorry, I just noticed you said you already do a song
