Co sleepers - how close?

Fell asleep on bed with little one this morning which got us through from 5-645, which was good. She was right up close to me, and I was sleeping on my side around her.

I woke up worried I might have rolled on her, but I know some fall asleep bfeeding, which must be as close. I also have lo on her side when we feed lying down.

If you cosleep, how do you actually do it? How close, what positions? i have read safe co sleeping stuff but it doesn't really tell me that. Thanks!

We have a king size bed, and DS lies between me and DH. I try to get him pretty much in the middle of the bed, or a bit onto my side, so I have room to actually lie down!

Sometimes if he's sleeping facing away from me I'll effectively spoon around him, but often he facing me (having fed to sleep lying down) or he's on his back sprawled out.

Sometimes I'll be touching him, maybe have my arm round him but often there's a little gap, all depends on what position he fell asleep in!

My DH tends to sleep facing away from us, which I don't like cause in concerned he'll roll into his back, so I make sure there is enough room between him and DS for him to do that.

Hope that helps!

She either lies on her front on my chest and i'm in a semi upright position with loads of pillows to support my neck and head, I also have a couple of pillows under each elbow so my arms are supported and would catch her if she wriggled.

If i'm bf we both lie on our sides facing each other and with the arm that would be trapped under me i put straight outwards so if i went to roll over that arm would stop me. I normally wake up with pins and needles in it.

If i'm still awake when she has finished feeding I put pillows in the gaps between the mattress and wall and by the headboard and slide her upwards so the top half of her body is level with my pillow, the duvet goes up to her chest then.

Read a book called three in a bed. Gives excellent advice.

I go with never under a duvet, sleeping bag on top of duvet when older and no pillows near them until 6 months plus. I cosleep with mine and we muddle along.

Also never cosleep after drinking, when exhausted or ill. Or on a sofa or water bed. And preferably not if a smoker.
