Mumsnetters, I don't have to tell you all about the misery of an early rising nearly 6 mo because I see numerous threads every day.

However apart from lots of suggestions , albeit very helpful ones, is there anyone out there that has come through the other side ? What WORKED for you? Did you do something specific or did it work itself out?

Please no one say 'try blackout blinds' , we have those .

Thank you :-)

We are not 5 am but usually 5.45 am and I think I just have to accept that's when she gets up. Sounds boring but make the most of the early mornings to get stuff done. Or just put frozen on and sit drinking tea like I am.
My daughter sleeps 11hrs solid at night and has 2.5 hrs nap in the day so I can't complain really.
We take it in turns at the weekend to have a lie in till about 8.30.
Sorry if that's not much help. But the light at the end of the tunnel is they will be teenagers in a few years and never get their ass out of bed ! We have 3 off them too !!

Hey thank you! Yes I am currently on my second load of washing, drinking coffee and unashamedly got the baby in front of the TV.

The bags under my eyes are ridiculous thank god for make up x

I paid good money to a sleep consultant to help solve this. In the end I was told to live with having an early riser. We take turns getting up with her.

Ha - blackout blinds... I wish we'd spent that fifty quid on wine instead. I wish I had an answer for you, will be watching the thread! DS (1) is up at 4.30am or 5am every day. I go to bed at ten without fail and sleep in his earliest nap no matter what else needs doing. Keep hearing it gets better when they start walking?

Even though no one has given me a miracle answer , I am happier knowing I am not the only one up with the larks !

Thank you ladies !

Just posted this on another thread
My 4 y/o DS has started sleeping through to 7 for the first time in long while (has never slept well for any decent length of time) and its because his sleep pattern is disturbed my my dd (16 weeks) so he's not coming into his light sleep at 5 anymore because she's stirring him at 2 or 4 am (or last night; hourly) he doesn't wake but stirs and mutters (similar to the wake to sleep that's recommended for early morning waking) so might be worth a try with your DC - rouse him when you go to bed first and see if that helps?!? - plus we shut his door (was told an open door is an invitation to get up) and use a gro clock (with a filter over as the light was too bright and waking him up)
