Help!! waking 25 mins after being put down all night!!

Hi, my DS is 16 weeks on Wednesday (classic sleep regression age). For the last five nights I've probably totalled about 5 hours sleep in 20 minute chunks (that's if I'm lucky enough to fall asleep before he wakes up each time). I'll get him to sleep either my feeding or patting etc only for him to wake up 20 to 30 minutes later then we start all over again all night long. I'm going insane! He'd been sleeping in a NCT Bednest until now but I've resorted to having him actually in with me so I can feed lying down as I haven't got the energy to sit up and keep having to move him across but it doesn't make a difference. Any advice or do I just need to suck it up and hang in there?

You need to hang in there unfortunately. 16 weeks is the big one, massive growth spurt time. I remember it well with both my dc. I had them sleeping with me too, it was the only thing that could help me function. It lasted about 2 to 3 weeks , just look into co sleeping safely, and grab any help that you can to sleep in the day. I also expressed a lot, drank loads of water etc to build up my milk supply to meet the new demand. This will pass, although I know it doesn't feel like it right now.

Thanks Zebra, I thought that might be the case! It's always helpful to know you're not the only one struggling with something. I wasn't aware of the regression with my other DS as he was a rubbish sleeper from day 1 and that never really changed but this DS has slept pretty well up until now so it just makes it all the more painful Sad. No rest today unfortunately as my 3.5 yr old isn't at nursery and we have a day out with his cousin and my mother in law. Cake will be needed!

Snap. 17 weeks and it hit last week. Up every effing hour through the night. Resorted to dummy now which I still have to get up to stick in but then she is asleep within a minute. It's a nightmare, esp with a toddler to cater for.

Sorry you're going through it too Popalina. It's rough going isn't it!! I might give a dummy a try tonight. He wouldn't have one when he was tiny but might be worth trying again.

Yup, try again. I gave in because I figured either I shush and rock her every hour or I stick a dummy in her mouth and go back to sleep! Needless to say, with a lively two year old to look after in the day, sleep is ever more important! I just hope it won't backfire later on.

Just popping back to say Aggghhhhh Angry!!!!!! Feeding for the 6th time tonight so far on sore nipples with open wounds. I got the grand total of 1.5 hours sleep at the beginning of the night before the first waking at 10:30 and haven't been back to sleep since. Why are the worst nights always on a Sunday when I have both kids on my own the next day?! Might have to sit on the sofa all day tomorrow with 'Frozen' on repeat to keep my eldest DS occupied while I doze and feed. Just need something to numb the pain in my nipples!!!
Hope anyone else still going through the 4mth sleep regression is coping ok, it's rough going!
